Hyogo is the only prefecture that touches both Japan Sea and Seto inland Sea (瀬戸内海). The capital is Kobe city (神戸). About 60% of the population live in Kobe or in the cities located between Osaka. The culture of this prefecture is so diverse, because there were four different countries before the merge in 1868.
Some of you may have heard the name Kobe, not Hyogo, from their famous beef or the earthquake. Kobe is more known to foreigners as Kobe was one of the first ports which were open to other countries.
