Hokkaido is one of the 47 prefectures, and it is the largest island located at the most northern part of Japan. This huge island had not been part of Japanese territory until modern times and there still has their own unique culture. Hokkaido is a perfect place for tourists who loves nature, winter activity, as well as hot springs.
The weather in Hokkaido is different from mainland Japan; summer is cool and comfortable, while winter is long and harsh. The main international airport is New Chitose Airport (CTS/新千歳空港), but there are many domestic flights within Hokkaido, too.
