The most visited area in Tokyo.
There is no doubt that Tokyo is the most visited city in Japan, and their Asakusa is always the on the list to visit. As you can see from our previous posts, there are numerous Halal restaurants nearby, but we have found another recommendation for Muslims who has sweet tooth!
Hatoya (鳩家) is a small shop that sells fruit sandwich close to Kaminarimon gate. Let’s take a closer look at this place today!
Vegan Fruit sandwich shop
Probably you will not find the shop by saying “Fruit sandwich, Halal’, because the shop is famous for their “Vegan” fruit sandwich. They are not saying “Halal” or “Muslim-friendly” on their profile.
Whipped cream is usually made from milk from cow, so vegans avoid this. Hatoya has replaced cow milk with cream made from plant, so this can ensure the product is free from animal-derived ingredients.
Another concern to make it Halal is their usage of alcohol. Japanese whipped cream, in most of the cases, contains some drops of liquor to add flavor. When we confirmed with the owner of the shop, she confirmed us that their whipped cream is made free from alcohol, which can be Halal.
Is fruit sandwich worth trying in Japan?
