There are numerous Halal restaurants in Japan, but it is not an exaggeration at all to say that Naniwaya, former Naritaya, is one of the most famous, leading Halal restaurants in the country. The restaurant is not just Muslim-friendly, but it is Halal-certified. Everything you can find in the restaurant is Halal, and there is no worry about contamination at all.
Naritaya has changed their name into Naniwaya as recently as in July 2023. Former Naritaya have some branches in Japan: Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. As the restaurants cover these most touristic cities, most of the Muslims visiting Japan will enjoy their cuisine at least once in their stay in Japan.

What is their menu like?
As you can see from their name, Halal Ramen Naniwaya, their specialty is Japanese Ramen. They do not use any MSGs but using only natural ingredients. Of course, the meat on top and soy sauce or Miso paste are Halal-certified.
They also have Chinese dumplings called Gyoza and Karaage, Deep Fried Chicken. These dishes are often served as a side dish for Ramen, but because they both have pork or chicken inside, Muslims cannot enjoy the taste. At Naniwaya, this is not the case.
They also serve great quality Japanese beef called Wagyu, because former Naritaya had been serving great quality Japanese beef.
Their recommendation is Wagyu Beef cooked with sweet and savory BBQ sauce. Tender pieces of Wagyu are nicely plated on the steaming hot rice.

What is not good about Naritaya?
As introduced in this article, Is Japanese Halal restaurant really so?, even though a restaurant declares as Halal or Muslim-friendly, they usually serve alcoholic beverage as it makes huge profit for the restaurant. However, to realize a real Halal restaurant, Naniwaya, no alcoholic beverage can be found.
Additionally, because they are using great quality Halal Wagyu and seasonings that are Halal-certified, the cost to run a restaurant is much higher than normal restaurants. This is the reason why the price of each meal in the restaurant is higher than normal Japanese restaurants.
Still, we are sure that this restaurant that serves great Japanese food is worth trying while you are in Japan, especially for the people who want to have Halal meals at all times.
