Looking for a Halal meal near Mt. Fuji?
The area of Kawaguchiko, known for its stunning view of Mt. Fuji, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan. However, for many Muslim travelers, finding a Halal restaurant—especially in the countryside—can be a concern.
Idaten is a newly opened authentic Japanese restaurant located just three minutes from Kawaguchiko Station, the city’s main gateway. Let’s take a look at how they aim to provide the best Halal Japanese dining experience.
How is Idaten Muslim-friendly?
Idaten is a well-established Japanese restaurant that has been serving Muslim-friendly meals for years. Recently, they opened a new branch—right next to the original location—that is fully Halal. The restaurant is working toward obtaining official Halal certification and includes a prayer space equipped with a wudu facility.

At Idaten, only Halal-certified ingredients are used, including meat, seasonings, and beverages.
They offer a complete Japanese course meal, prepared entirely in accordance with Halal standards. Skilled Japanese chefs ensure every dish delivers an authentic and high-quality dining experience.

What do they offer at Idaten?
The menu varies, but their specialties are the Halal wagyu course and freshly made tempura.

The tempura is served straight from the fryer in several rounds, allowing guests to enjoy its crispness and freshness. Even the tempura dipping sauce—traditionally made with alcohol—is specially prepared without it. Alternatively, flavored salts such as matcha salt are also available for dipping.

Their Wagyu is prepared to perfection. While there are several menu options, we especially recommend the Tobanyaki—a traditional Japanese-style grill—and Shabu Shabu, where thin slices of Wagyu are gently cooked in a flavorful hot broth.

Regardless of the dish, everything was cooked flawlessly. Remarkably, despite the strict Halal requirements, there was no noticeable difference from a typical Japanese meal in terms of taste or quality.
What does the course include?
Idaten has several courses and a-la-carte menu. It is recommended to reserve a seat and course to ensure a smooth dining experience.
