Nagano is a prefecture of mountains. The capital city is Nagano (長野市), however, Japanese people may think that Matsumoto (松本) is the most famous within Nagano.
The prefecture is a heaven for hikers. There are numbers of world-class mountains and what is called Japan Alps is in the region. The prefecture also produces nice farming products, especially grape, apple, pear and even Wasabi.
