Halal restaurant closest to JR Sannomiya Station.
Kobe is known as an international city, because it was the first port opened for foreigners. This is the reason why the Japanese very first Mosque was built in this city.
BUMBU kitchen is a small Indonesian restaurant, located only 5 minutes away from the city center, Sannomiya. The restaurant is run by an Indonesian and Japanese couple, and they only allow Halal items in the restaurant!
What do they offer? What makes their food special?
The restaurant is offering authentic Indonesian cuisine, because their chef, Yusuf, is from Lombok Island in Indonesia. He is a Muslim, so he and his wife, Junko, have opened this restaurant in a complete Halal style.
What makes their food so special is that they do not use any ready-to-serve or instant dipping or sauce. They use only natural ingredients such as peanuts, chili and pepper powder, and make their own.
“Of course, we have so many dipping sauces available to buy, but it does not have great taste. To make our taste special, we try to make it from zero.”
How is the taste?
They have wide selections of food, and it was very difficult to choose only one. So we have decided to take some away with us, and ordered Ayam Lalapang, Fried chicken leg with Sambal sauce.
Sambal is a type of sauce often used in Southeastern Asia, but the one at BUMBU Kitchen was very hot! The meal set has a cup of rice, fried tofu and vegetable sticks. They were great accompaniments for the dish because their Sambal sauce was so nice and there should be something to wipe the sauce with.
What else do they offer?
Of course, they offer many more famous Indonesian meal, such as coconut curry, Nasi Goreng and Rendang. What is great is that they are only using complete Halal ingredients and there is no concern about the contamination at all.
However, the only haram thing they offer is Alcoholic beverage. As many Japanese people try to avoid the place without alcoholic beverage, they have to have a selection of alcohol to attract more customers.

Their meal set is about 1000-2000 yen, which is quite reasonable for a complete Halal restaurant in Japan. They also have a takeaway.
