If you are a fan of Japanese anime, you may know this prefecture very well. It is a stage of Maruko, a Japanese anime. The capital of Shizuoka is Shizuoka city (静岡).
The prefecture has still a tranquil ambiance, with medium-sized towns. If you just step out of the city, you may reach nature very easily. There is a highest mountain of Japan, Mt. Fuji, as well as Hamanako Lake (浜名湖). It is also known for green tea production. Many Japanese green tea brands are from Shizuoka.
