Special Ramen made from A5 Halal wagyu
Every traveler deserves to enjoy ramen when visiting Japan. Although most ramen is made with pork or non-halal meat–based soup, there are now more restaurants offering Muslim-friendly options.
When it comes to uniqueness and rich flavor, Marhaba Ramen, a newly opened restaurant in Osaka, is a must-visit. Let’s talk about what makes it so special!
What’s special about Marhaba Ramen?
Marhaba, which means “Welcome” in Arabic, is a newly opened ramen restaurant in Dotonbori, Osaka. The restaurant features a beef-based broth that is incredibly creamy, even though no eggs or cream are used. How is this possible?
“Well, we extract a rich soup from rare A5 Wagyu beef,” the owner told us. “Some people say our ramen is more expensive than that of regular Japanese ramen shops. However, we ensure the highest quality by using only carefully selected ingredients to create an extreme ramen that even Muslims can enjoy, so the price naturally reflects that.”

Marhaba’s soup is unlike that of other ramen shops. It is creamy and rich because it is extracted from high-quality A5 Wagyu, with the umami intensely concentrated in the broth. Typically, ramen soup contains only about 30% umami, extracted mainly from chicken, with the remaining 70% consisting of water and seasonings. While this is the industry standard, Marhaba uses rare halal A5 Wagyu, resulting in a soup that contains more than 80% umami.
“This is actually the maximum percentage of umami that can exist in a soup,” the owner explained. “If we were to increase it to 90–100%, we would need to grind the ingredients themselves and turn them directly into soup.”
This extreme umami-rich broth is the secret behind Marhaba Ramen and the key to its success. Since its launch in November 2025, the restaurant has already become a must-visit destination for many Muslim travelers.
